Adding Media To Your Points of Interest

Images, Videos and Audio can be shared on the Driftscape platform. They will all be added using your Points Of Interest [POI] using ADD A MEDIA ITEM. 

Gallery Images: Every POI should have at least 1 image or video associated with it, which will appear in the swipeable gallery at the top of the POI. You can add multiple images and videos to a POI. When you add media items, you can leave the order blank, and it will auto-increment to the nearest 1000. This "makes room" in the image ordering, so one can easily add media items later in between. You can control the order in which images and videos will appear by editing the numbers in the “Media No.” field.

Please note: While uploading any images with text to the gallery use the "Scale but Don't Crop" setting for the images - this helps avoid the image from getting cropped off in list view. 

Inline Images: You can also add images to the description box of your POI in addition to its media gallery. These images are called inline images:

There are 2 ways to do this.

First option: Using an image uploaded to your media gallery

• Simply set the “Visible in Gallery?” setting on the image uploaded to your media gallery to “No”. This will hide the media item from the entry’s gallery, but will allow you to insert the media item into your POI’s description. 

Next go back to your POI’s editor and select the “Insert Feature Photo”” tool shown below

• Next, in the pop up select “Feature Photo” and then from the drop down select the image from your uploaded gallery that you wish to add to the description box.

• When you are done selecting your image, if you wish, you can add in a caption too. 

• You can also align the inline image to left/center/right using the “image alignment” drop down.

• When ready select “Ok”

Second option: Insert an image using an external link

• If you are looking to add an image from an external source, select “External URL” and add the link that hosts your image.

• Once you are ready select ok. The image will then appear in the spot you selected in the description box of your POI.

Please note: The first Image that appears in the Media List will always appear in the POI callout, even if it has been hidden from the gallery.  For correct formatting, ensure that the main image you want a user to see is the lowest numbered media item associated with the POI.

Media Guidelines

IMAGE GUIDELINES: 

Use 4:3 landscape aspect ratio wherever possible. (other aspect ratios will be accepted, and can be scaled/ cropped to fit) 

Format can be JPG, PNG or GIF (8MB max) 

Recommended size: 1200x900 pixels 

You can provide a caption for images up to 50 characters long. Where possible, choose images that do not require a caption.

If you are using an image that contains text - select “Scale but Don’t Crop” from the dropdown menu below so that the text in the image remains legible.

VIDEO GUIDELINES: 

Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo and provide a link. We also support live IP camera feeds from https://www.ipcamlive.com/ (IPLiveCam)

AUDIO GUIDELINES: 

Audio files can be MP3, M4A or AAC format (8MB max) 

These will be displayed in an embedded audio player, at the bottom of the screen. Use only one audio file per POI.
