Driftscape supports custom 3D objects in Augmented Reality Mode for iOS. This powerful feature turns Driftscape into an exciting way for you to enrich on-site tourism, and create new visitor engagement opportunities.
What are 3D Objects?
3D objects are digital models that can be viewed from all angles by a user in AR mode. When a user gets close enough to the location of a POI, the Point of Interest Marker will be replaced by the 3D Object.
3D objects can be created to meet your needs, found in online libraries, or even created from photos of actual objects. For more, please visit Sourcing and Creating 3D Objects.
3D Objects appear in the location of the POI they are associated with. Their placement can be general or “planar”. Planar placement means that objects can be placed on a nearby flat surface like the ground, or a table top.
Use Cases for 3D Objects
There are endless possibilities to use 3D objects to inform and entertain. You can include 3D models of long-gone historic buildings, or use models of historic figures as a local guide.
Scan museum pieces to create a digital 3D version that can be experienced from locations of your choosing. Place an old car on a street or a sailing ship in the harbor.
3D objects can also be combined with scavenger hunts and quests to further gamify these experiences. Create a leprechaun hunt on St. Patrick’s Day, or hunt for 3D Easter Eggs!
3D objects are available as an add-on. If you are interested in adding 3D Objects to your plan, contact your Driftscape representative.
