Accessing the Add/Edit Media Page of your POI

When viewing your Org Content in the Driftscape CMS, select the name of the POI you would like to add media to.

Click on ‘EDIT MEDIA’

Click on ‘ADD A MEDIA ITEM’

Adding Audio

Audio files will be displayed in an embedded audio player at the bottom of the screen when your POI is viewed.

Audio Guidelines

Use only one audio file per POI.

Audio files can be MP3, M4A or AAC format (8MB max).

To add audio, refer to this screenshot [RED highlighted areas are referenced below it]:

Media No: assigning a media number is optional. Associating multiple audio files with one POI is not recommended, so numbering is not required.

Caption: do not caption audio files.

Media Type: in this case, choose ‘Audio’

Audio File: mp3, aac, oga files are supported. 8MB max. Click ‘Choose File’ and it will allow you to select a  file from your computer. Once selected, you will see the file name next to the ‘Choose File” button, replacing the words “No file chosen”.

Visible in Gallery?: Leave set to yes.

Add: remember to click ‘ADD  ’ to add your audio file.

Adding Images

Image files will be displayed when your POI is viewed. You can add multiple images [or videos] to a POI.

There are two types of images: Gallery Images and Inline Images.

Every POI should have at least 1 image [or video] associated with it, which will appear in the swipeable gallery at the top of the POI.

For gallery images a 4:3 landscape aspect ratio is recommended where possible (other aspect ratios will be accepted, and can be scaled/ cropped to fit), with a minimum recommended size of  800x600 pixels.

Inline Images

Images can also be added ‘inline’ to the ‘Description’ box of your POI. These images are called Inline Images. For details on how to insert an Inline Image, visit the section below.

To add images, refer to this screenshot [RED highlighted areas are referenced below it]:

Media No: When you add media items, you can leave the Media No blank, and a media number will automatically be assigned in increments of 1000, based on the order in which they were added. This ‘makes room’ in the image ordering, so that media items can easily be added later on an ‘in between’ basis. You can control the order in which images [or videos] will appear by editing the numbers in the ‘Media No.’ field. For more detail, refer to the Reordering Media section of this article below.

Caption: This is optional. If you choose to include a caption for your image, it will be displayed below your image. Captions can be up to 50 characters max.

Media Type: in this case, choose ‘Image’

Image File [can be jpg, png, gif, svg….8MB max]:

Click ‘Choose File’ and it will allow you to select a  file from your computer. Once selected, you will see the file name next to the ‘Choose File” button, replacing the words “No file chosen”.

Scale and Crop the image?: In most cases you will want to leave the setting to Smart Scale and Crop (default). In cases where your image includes text, select “Scale but Don’t Crop” from the dropdown menu to ensure that the text remains legible.

Visible in Gallery?: For Gallery images leave set to ‘Yes’. For Inline images set to ‘No’.

Add: remember to click ‘ADD’ to add your image.

Inserting Inline Images

There are 2 ways to insert an inline image, you can upload an inline image, or insert one using an external link.

Using an uploaded inline image

Simply set the “Visible in Gallery?” setting on the image uploaded to your media gallery to “No”. This will hide the media item from the entry’s gallery, but will allow you to insert the media item into your POI’s description.

Next go back to your POI’s editor and select the “Insert Feature Photo”” tool shown below

Next, in the pop up select “Feature Photo” and then from the drop down select the image from your uploaded gallery that you wish to add to the description box.

When you are done selecting your image, if you wish, you can add in a caption too.

You can also align the inline image to left/center/right using the “image alignment” drop down.

When ready select “Ok

If you are looking to add an image from an external source, select “External URL” and add the link that hosts your image.

Once you are ready select ok. The image will then appear in the spot you selected in the description box of your POI.

Please note: The first Image that appears in the Media List will always appear in the POI callout, even if it has been hidden from the gallery.  For correct formatting, ensure that the main image you want a user to see is the lowest numbered media item associated with the POI.

Adding Video

In order to add a video to your POI, it must first be added to YouTube or Vimeo.

We also support live IP camera feeds from https://www.ipcamlive.com/ (IPLiveCam)

To add video, refer to this screenshot [RED highlighted areas are referenced below it]:

Media No: When you add media items, you can leave the Media No blank, and a media number will automatically be assigned in increments of 1000, based on the order in which they were added. This ‘makes room’ in the image ordering, so that media items can easily be added later on an ‘in between’ basis. You can control the order in which videos and images will appear by editing the numbers in the ‘Media No.’ field. For more detail, refer to the Reordering Media section of this article below.

Caption:  This is optional. If you choose to include a caption for your video, it will be displayed below your image. Captions can be up to 50 characters max.

Media Type: in this case, choose ‘Video’’

Video link: insert URL for your video, from YouTube, Vimeo, or IPLiveCam. Ensure the video is set to public.

Visible in Gallery?: this is a dropdown box; set to ‘Yes’ for videos

Add: remember to click ‘ADD’ to add your video.

360° photos and virtual tours

You can add 360° photos and virtual tours hosted by our providers into the media gallery for any POI, tour stop, or quest stop. For full information, please visit our article about  360 Photos and Virtual Tours.

Editing/Adding/Deleting Media

To adjust your existing media items, scroll back up to top of the page for your POI and click on ‘EDIT MEDIA.’

You now have three different options:

  1. Edit a Media Item

  2. Add a Media Item

  3. Delete a Media Item

Edit a Media Item

Click the ‘pencil’ icon to edit that particular media item. You can replace an image, change your caption and change your image settings here.

Add a Media Item

Click ‘ADD A MEDIA ITEM’ to add an additional media item

  • Under ‘Media Number’ assign a number in order to control the order of the images in the gallery. This is optional.

  • Under ‘Caption’ enter the caption that will appear with your media item. This is optional.

  • Under ‘Media Type’ select ‘Image’ since we will add a photo first. Click the ‘Choose File’ button to select the image you want to upload. JPG, PNG, GIF and SVG formats are supported (8MB max). You will need to navigate to the folder on your computer where that image is saved and select it. When you’ve selected your image, click ADD at the bottom of your screen.

  • To add other types of media, and for general media guidelines, visit our How to Add Media article.

Delete a Media Item

Activate the circle under the ‘Delete’ column for the desired Media Item and click ‘DELETE’. This is permanent.

Reordering Media

To reorder uploaded media files, edit the Media No. of each image or video to your preferred sequence. By default, the media gallery numbers uploads starting from 1000 in multiples of 1000, making it easier for you to reorder them or add additional media items in between. If you want your new media item to appear first you could renumber it ‘100’. This will make it display before image 1000, but still leaves you lots of room to add additional images before it. Leaving gaps in your numbering of images (by numbering them 100, 200, 300 etc) is helpful if you want to insert media in between existing media items later on.
