In the dynamic landscape of tourism offerings, ensuring the accuracy and appeal of your Points of Interest (POIs) is paramount. Whether it's correcting existing information, enhancing content, or adding new media items, editing a POI allows you to maintain the integrity and engagement of your content. This guide will walk you through the steps to efficiently edit a POI within the Driftscape Content Management System (CMS).

Why Edit a POI?

Some reasons you may want to edit a POI [Point of Interest] include:

  1. To correct information

  2. To enhance the content

  3. To add or enhance media items

Get Started: Editing a POI

Step 1: Access the Driftscape Content Management System [CMS]

Log into the CMS at cms.driftscape.com using your Username/Password credentials.

  • Note: Your login credentials were shared with you by your Driftscape representative. If you need help logging in, or to reset your credentials, contact your Driftscape rep.

Once logged in, you will see the ‘Organization Content’ screen. If you don’t automatically see this screen, choose ‘ORG CONTENT’ from the header menu located in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

You will see a list of your organizations. Click on the name of the organization from which you would like to select a POI to edit.

Step 2: Select the POI you would like to edit

Under the ‘Edit’ column for the particular POI you would like to edit, click on the ‘pencil’ icon.

Step 3: Edit your POI

By clicking on one of two tabs, you can either edit ‘Main’ information and/or ‘Location’ information.

If you want to edit ‘Main’ information:

  • Make sure you have selected the ‘Main’ tab [not the ‘Location’ tab]

  • Go ahead and make edits to the ’Title,’ ‘Time and Venue,’ and ‘Description’ fields as desired.

  • For edits to the ‘Description’ field, make full use of the editing toolbar. Please see How to Add Written Descriptions to a POI for a full explanation of the various tools in the editing toolbar.

  • To finalize your edits, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the ‘Update’ button. If your POI is public, your changes will be visible in the apps immediately.

If you want to edit ‘Location’ information:

  • Make sure you have selected the ‘Location’ tab [not the ‘Main’ tab].

  • Choose to work in ‘Map’ or ‘Satellite’ view.

  • To edit the location of your POI you have a few options:

    • Move your existing map marker: Zoom to the area where your POI is currently located, click and hold the marker, and it can be dragged to its new desired location.

    • Edit the address: You can also use the ‘Geocode an address’ bar below the map to change the specific address [which will move the marker to that new address].

  • Edit the latitude/longitude information: You can also edit the longitude and latitude for your POI.

  • To finalize your edits, click the ‘Update’ button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4: Edit Media

To edit media, scroll back up to top of the page and click on ‘EDIT MEDIA’

You now have three different options:

  1. Edit a Media Item

  2. Add a Media Item

  3. Delete a Media Item

  1. Edit a Media Item

Click the ‘pencil’ icon to edit that particular media item.

  1. Add a Media Item

Click ‘ADD A MEDIA ITEM’ to add an additional media item

  • Under ‘Media Number’ assign a number in order to control the order of the images in the gallery. This is optional.

  • Under ‘Caption’ enter the caption that will appear with your media item. This is optional.

  • Under ‘Media Type’ select ‘Image’ since we will add a photo first. Click the ‘Choose File’ button to select the image you want to upload. JPG, PNG, GIF and SVG formats are supported (8MB max). You will need to navigate to the folder on your computer where that image is saved and select it. When you’ve selected your image, click ADD at the bottom of your screen.

  • To add other types of media, and for general media guidelines, visit our Adding Media To Your Points of Interest.

  1. Delete a Media Item

Activate the circle under the ‘Delete’ column and click ‘DELETE’ to delete the media item.

Step 5: Reordering Media

To reorder uploaded media files, edit the Media No. of each image or video to your preferred sequence. By default, the media gallery numbers uploads starting from 1000 in multiples of 1000, making it easier for you to reorder them or add additional media items in between. If you want your new media item to appear first you could renumber it ‘100’. This will make it display before image 1000, but still leaves you lots of room to add additional images before it. Leaving gaps in your numbering of images (by numbering them 100, 200, 300 etc) is helpful if you want to insert media in between existing media items later on.
