TABLE OF CONTENTS

Are you using Driftscape in ‘TRIAL’ mode? If so, your content won't be live to the public yet. Reviewing your content before it goes live is always a smart move! This article aims to help you navigate Driftscape's Free Trial Mode, enabling you to view your mapped places, events, tours, and more, using both the mobile app and the web app. There are multiple ways to preview your content from the CMS/web app as well as from the mobile app. To change the status of your organizations to Trial mode, contact support@driftscape.com.

Use Cases

Reviewing Content Before Launch

When you get started with Driftscape your Organization and Sub-layers will initially be set to ‘TRIAL’ mode. During this period, none of the POIs you add to the CMS will be visible to the public. But you can review it from the CMS/web app or from the mobile app.

We recommend reviewing your mapped content while in ‘TRIAL’ mode to make any necessary corrections and improvements before converting your layers to ‘PUBLIC’ mode. Once visibility is switched to ‘PUBLIC,’ your visitors will be able to see your Points of Interest (POIs), so ensuring your content is accurate and complete beforehand is crucial.

Note: to preview your content before launch when your Organization or Sub-layer is in TRIAL mode, individual POIs will need to be marked as PUBLIC to preview.

Reviewing Content Post Launch

Once your Organization and Sub-layers are set to public, you can continue to map new POIs and review them for accuracy using the same methods described below while those newly added POIs are in ‘Draft’’ mode. This allows you to refine and ensure the quality of your newly added content before it becomes visible to your visitors.

Note: to preview your content after launch when your Organization or sublayer is in PUBLIC mode, individual POIs will need to be marked as DRAFT  to preview.

Previewing a Specific POI in Trial Mode from the CMS

When viewing your POI in the CMS click “SEE POI IN DRIFTSCAPE FOR WEB.”

You will see a pop-up explaining how to ensure your POI will be visible in the webapp. Click ‘OK’

As noted in the screenshot above, the POI you are trying to preview is set to ‘DRAFT’. In order to preview it while your Organization is set to ‘TRIAL’ you will need to set the visibility for your POI to ‘PUBLIC’, which can be done by editing your POI under the Main tab:

….use dropdown menut to change to….

Once you have done that, you will see a pop-up like this one…again, go ahead and click ‘OK’:

If you do not see your POI right away, you will need to enter your CMS username in the Web App Trial User Settings. To do so, tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner of your screen:

Select Trial User Settings from the Menu, and enter your CMS username.

Return to the Driftscape CMS, and click “SEE POI IN DRIFTSCAPE FOR WEB” again. You will now see your POI exactly as it will appear in the web app once it has been made public.

Notes:

  • Most browsers will retain your Trial User Settings in the web app, meaning that you will not need to reenter your CMS username every time you wish to preview a POI.Your CMS username will be the email address you use to log into the Driftscape CMS.

  • You can use this same method to view public content in the web app. For public content, it is not required to enter your CMS username.

Using ‘See Mobile View’ from the CMS

There is also the option to see an approximate preview of your POI directly from the Driftscape CMS using the SEE MOBILE PAGE function.

When viewing your POI in the Driftscape CMS click “SEE MOBILE PAGE”

Note: unlike the other methods, See Mobile Page is an approximate view of your content as it will appear to your visitors once published. See Mobile Page works regardless of whether your organization or sub-layer is in Trial Mode.

Previewing All POIs from the Web app

Step 1: Switch to trial mode in the web app

Visit the Driftscape web app: webapp.driftscape.com/map [Note: Your contract may include a branded web app. Contact your customer success representative for your unique web app link]. Click on the three horizontal lines at the top left corner.

Select ‘Trial User Settings’:

In the ensuing pop-up box, enter your CMS username, and click "OK." The web app will now display all Points of Interest (POIs), both public and draft. When you return, any trial organization content you have access to will be displayed. The user account you entered is often saved in your browser, so you may not have to re-enter it later.

Step 2: Finding your content in the web app

  • For the shared web app, zoom into your region and look for your map markers, or use the search bar to locate specific POIs.

  • If you have a unique web app link, entering your username will display an exclusive view of all your POIs.

Step 2: Allow the app switch to trial mode

Once you have successfully entered your CMS username in the Trial Settings, you will need to return to the map mode, and wait for your trial content to sync before you can preview your content. This will take several minutes.  Note: Keep your app open showing the map mode during this time. Ensure your phone screen does not lock or switch to another app while the sync is completing.

Scroll down to ALL ORGANIZATIONS:

Uncheck the circle next to ALL ORGANIZATIONS:

Now expand the Organizations drop down list:

Now check the circle ONLY next to the name of your organization, so that only your content will be displayed. Note: if you do not see the name of your organization in the list, return to the map view and wait 5 minutes (with the app open and running in the foreground) and then try again. Ensure your phone screen does not lock or switch to another app while switching to trial mode.
