Failed AiListing Overview
When attempting to generate an AiListing ( Formerly Automated Business Directory), sometimes that attempt will be unsuccessful resulting in a ‘Failed AiListing.’ This article explains the various reasons for failure and how to fix them. AiListing typically fail to generate due to poor or insufficient information inputted into the CMS (Content Management System). Typically, there are three reasons for AiListing failure:
Business name does not match actual business name
Business address does not match actual business address
Business has a weak internet presence; although it may have a website, it does not have a Google My Business page
Identifying a Failed AiListing
In the CMS under Org Content for your organization, a business may show an AiListing in the AiListing column, but if it failed, the Title column will show “FAILED AiListing” as shown below.

Examples of AiListing Failures and How to Fix Them
Below are several common scenarios where an AiListing may fail and the practical steps you can take to resolve each one. These examples are intended to help you diagnose the cause of a failed AiListing and apply the appropriate fix quickly, whether the issue relates to incorrect data entry, missing information, or limited online visibility.
Business name does not match actual business name
If an incorrect business name is added when inputting your AiListings to the CMS, the business will not be able to correctly populate in the application.
When clicking on a failed POI, more detail is provided as to why the AiListing failed to generate.
This AiListing failed to generate because the business name RIPLEY’S AQUARIUM was incorrectly inputted as RIDLEY’S AQUARIUM into the CMS.
To fix an incorrect business name, follow these steps:
First select the edit icon beside the failed business

Under the "ABD Business Name" section, delete the incorrect business name and add the correct one

Then select "Update" at the bottom of the page
A message about AiListing regeneration will pop up:

Within a few minutes, refreshing the page will display the regenerated/correct AiListing.
On the main list of POIs for this Organization, the ‘FAILED AiListing’ annotation has now disappeared and the AiListing is fixed:

Business address input does not match actual business address
In this example, the AiListing failed because the address entered in the CMS did not match the business' real location. When this happens, the system cannot confirm the business and marks the listing as failed.

When clicking on this particular POI (Point of Interest), more detail is provided as to why the AiListing failed to generate; a series of possible reasons why it failed are provided

This AiListing failed to generate because the business address used (1000 Dundas St W) is not the business’ actual address (247 Wallace Ave).
To fix an incorrect address follow these steps:
First click on the ‘Pencil Icon’ under the Edit column:

This will open up the Edit AiListing POI editor. In this case, update the AiListing Business Address to the accurate business address.

A message about AiListing regeneration will pop up:

Within a few minutes, refreshing the page will display the regenerated/correct AiListing.
On the main list of POIs for this Organization, the ‘FAILED AiListing’ annotation has now disappeared and the AiListing is fixed

Business has a weak internet presence
Where there is no internet match found, the AiListing will not be able to generate content.

When clicking on this particular POI (Point of Interest), more detail is provided as to why the AiListing failed to generate:

This AiListing failed to generate because the business could not be found on the internet (although it did have a website, it did not have a My Google Business listing).
To fix a week internet presence error follow these steps:
click on the ‘Pencil Icon’ under the Edit column

This will open up the Edit AiListing POI editor; in this case, add/edit the AiListing Business Address and add/edit the AiListing Business Website; then click ‘UPDATE’ at the bottom of the screen to finalize:

A message about AiListing regeneration will pop up:

Within a few minutes, refreshing the page will display the regenerated/correct AiListing.
AiListing Generated but Description is Incorrect (AiListing Hallucination)
In some rare cases, the AiListing does not fail completely, but the generated description is clearly wrong. For example, a sushi restaurant might be described as a video arcade, or a café might be described as an unrelated type of venue.
This usually happens for the same reason as other failures: the business has a weak internet presence and the AI does not have enough good information to work with. It may still generate text, but that text can be misleading or inaccurate.
In these cases, the best approach is to reuse the AI generated content as a starting point and then correct it manually.
To fix an incorrect AiListing follow these steps:
Identify the AiListing with the incorrect description & navigate to the edit POI page using the "edit ailisting" button.

Under the "AiListing Description Creation" dropdown menu, select "short POI descriptions"
Add the company description (sourced from company website or other source) to the "AiListing Business Description" field.

Click "update" at the bottom of the page to save the description
Other AiListing Failure Situations
Other situations where refining or extending the AiListing data could help solve a generation problem:
Enter the GPS coordinates (longitude and llatitude) to firm up the location:

If the business is a common generic chain with many locations (Tim Horton’s, Walmart, etc), add in an address, as that will help us figure out which location to add.
The images are added in priority sequence. If you find the latter images are incorrect, you can lower the photo count for that AiListing.
Search Google (not google maps) for the business name: sometimes it will be listed under a different spelling or with extra text, which must match closely what you enter for the AiListing.
Check the website address: is it the correct URL for this business? We will get information from the website when we fail to find any information online.
If everything fails, try specifying everything: name, address, gps location, website, and alternate description.
If you are certain the AiListing should work and is not, contact your Driftscape support representative, providing the CMS URL to the Failed AiListing for review.
Reviewing AI Generated Descriptions
It is very important to carefully review every AI generated description before using it. Even when the AiListing does not show as “FAILED,” the content may still contain errors.
Before finalizing any AiListing, always check that:
The business type is correct
The address and location are correct
The description matches what the business actually is
No unrelated or misleading details are included
If you find errors, use the steps above to correct the text and save a refined version instead of accepting the incorrect output.
