Categorizing your POIs

Categorizing your Points of Interest (POIs) within Driftscape is vital for enhancing user experiences and boosting content discoverability. By assigning categories, you enable visitors to effortlessly filter their app view and delve into specific areas of interest, whether they’re seeking historic landmarks, local events, or curiosities in your region. This strategic approach not only elevates user engagement but also amplifies the visibility and accessibility of your content within the Driftscape app, ensuring a more immersive and tailored exploration experience.


What is Categorizing your POIs?

By categorizing your POIs, Driftscape users can opt to filter content based on their preferences - they can sort their view by these Categories, making for easier exploration. Categorization can be applied regardless of the type of POI [Places, Events, Tours, etc]. All POI should be assigned to at least one Category, and a maximum of two Categories per POI is recommended. 


How Categorization Works in the App

Users select what they are interested in seeing from the menu icon in the lower right corner of the app. By turning categories on and off, users will ONLY see POIs that match their desired selections. For example:  if a user selects the category Art, only POIs marked as part of this category in the CMS will be visible to the user.


Get Started: Categorizing your POIs

Step 1: Select the POI to Categorize

Log into the CMS at cms.driftscape.com using your Username/Password credentials.

Note: Your login credentials were shared with you by your Driftscape representative. If you need help logging in, or to reset your credentials, contact your Driftscape rep.



Select the name of the Organization that contains the POI you would like to categorize from the Organization Content list.



You will see a list of your Organizations.  To get a list of the POIs associated with that Organization, either click on the organization ‘Name’ or click on the icon under the ‘Content’ column.


Step 2: Assign Categories for your POI

Your chosen Organization’s POIs will now be displayed in a list:



Select the POI you want to assign Categories to by clicking the pencil icon under the ‘Edit’ column:



Scroll down to select the various categories that you would like to assign to this POI:



Select the category or categories that best suit your POI (for example, the POI Future Bakery could be assigned to the ‘Food & Drink’ category. Although you can choose multiple categories for a single POI; we recommend no more than two categories for each (for this example, you could also assign the ‘Local Shopping’ category). It is not recommended to select more than two Categories for a POI.



For your changes to take effect, don’t forget to click on ‘Update’ at the bottom of the screen to complete the process of Categorizing your POI.
