Password Protected Content

Do you have content that you only want select users to be able to open and view? You can use Driftscape to make select content Password Protected. This functionality is great for customers that may only want to make select content viewable to app users that have paid for access to it.

Once logged into the CMS within your Organization:

  • to edit the Point of Interest [POI] that you want to password protect, click on 'EDIT POI'
  • to create a password, add your desired password into the ‘Access Key’ field
  • to indicate that the Access Key password can be entered by the user in Plain Text, click/activate the circle under 'Access Key is plain text'
  • add descriptive text in the  'Access Key Text' field [although optional, this will 'tip off' the user as to the password/'Access Key' needed to reveal the POI]
  • click 'UPDATE' to finalize

Now, when you access this POI from the mobile apps or Driftscape for Web, you will be prompted for the password when you open it:

If you enter the incorrect password, an error is displayed:

Once you enter the password for this POI, it is remembered and presented again when you re-open the POI.

Driftscape for Web has similar functionality:

If you wish to password protect all of the content in your organization or one of your sub-layers with the same password, go to Org Properties in the CMS, edit the organization, and set the Access Key. Now, if any POI in the organization is opened, the correct Access key must be entered. Note that you can override the organization access key with one for POI if you wish.

The password is checked on the Driftscape server at the time that it is opened, so a network connection is required. Because of this, password protected content is never synchronized with Offline Mode.

Any POI can be password protected, including places, events, tours, tour stops, quests, and quest stops.

Note that a password protected POI (or organization) has only one password at a time. Hence, if you change the password, then any user who previously was issued the password will not be able to open the POI until they receive the new password.
