Creating Single ABDs Versus Creating Multiple ABDs

ABDs [Automated Business Directories] can be created one at a time in the CMS [Content Management System] by following these steps.  But when you have multiple businesses for which to generate ABDs, for efficiency you can instead make use of a fixed format spreadsheet.

Getting Started: Generating Multiple ABDs From A Spreadsheet

Make a copy of this Google spreadsheet template

After clicking on template link, choose 'File’ and then ‘Make a copy' from the dropdown menu.

Rename and save to desired location on your computer.

Here’s the spreadsheet template, with an explanation of column information details below:

Enter the following information for each individual business into your spreadsheet, one row at a time

Column ‘A’/Name of Business (required): Name of the business. Make sure this is the exact name that the business uses online..the closer the match, the better the resulting ABD.

Column ‘B’/Category (required): Select the most appropriate/best matching category from our predefined list of categories for each business entry [each Category is represented in Driftscape by a unique matching icon, and is implemented as a Sub-layer that appears under your Parent organization within the mobile app].

The Category choices listed in the worksheet named 'Categories - INTERNAL':

Please do not create new categories. The Categories in our predefined list are designed to be generic for all Organizations, so that Driftscape users will find a similar styling/business grouping across all Organizations.  If you don’t find an appropriate Category and would like to see a new one created, please contact your Driftscape Support Representative with your suggestions.

Examples of the Category view within the mobile app:

Column ‘C’/Address (Optional): The land address of the business. If the name of the business is unique in your area, an address is not necessary [if the business name is accurate/unique, it is very likely a good match with the correct address will be found.  However, inputting an address will improve the ABD generation process if either the business has several different locations/operations in your region or its online address can not be identified.  Note that if the inputted business address does not match the online business address, the ABD could fail to generate and the listing would need to be manually corrected.

Column ‘D’/Website (Optional): The website URL does not need to be included generally, as it can usually be automatically located online.  However, including the website URL can be helpful in generating an accurate ABD in the following situations: where the name match is failing; where the business has a Google My Business entry but does not have a matching website URL; or where the associated website listed online is incorrect [where the business has a website but does not have an internet/online presence, their website will be scraped to create a basic ABD [In this case, Hours of Operation may not be included].

Importing Your ABD Spreadsheet

Once your spreadsheet is populated, please contact your Driftscape Support Representative so they can activate the ABD generation process.  Once complete, you will have the opportunity to review your ABDs before making them live to the public.
