Driftscape's coupon feature is a great way to attract customers and drive engagement by offering special discounts and promotions directly through the app. These coupons are easy to create, distribute, and can be customized to fit your business needs–helping you boost sales and enhance customer loyalty.

What is a Coupon?

A coupon allows you to create in-app deals that encourage users to shop locally. With one-tap redemptions and seamless vendor integration, these coupons are easy for both you and your customers to use. Plus, you'll gain valuable insights with our full reporting feature.

Note: Coupons work in both the mobile app and web app.

Get Started: Adding a Coupon

Step 1: Copy the Coupon URL Generator

Your Customer Success representative may have already provided you with a unique Coupon URL Generator sheet. If not, start by making a copy of this Coupon System Link Generator sheet.

Step 2: Fill in the coupon information

In row 2, column B, add your organization name as entered in the Content Management System (CMS)

Complete the following for each of the coupons you wish to create:

  • Business Name (Column A, Required): Enter the name of the business offering the coupon.

  • Offer Number (Column B, Required): Enter a unique offer ID for this coupon (up to 4 digits). Example: “0001”.

  • Note: Offer numbers must be unique. Do not reuse offer numbers used for other coupons.

  • Max Redemptions (Column C, Optional): Set the maximum number of times a user can redeem the coupon (default is 2). Avoid setting it to 1, as user error could prevent successful coupon use.

  • Expiry Date (Column D, Optional): Set the date after which the coupon cannot be redeemed (format: YYYY-MM-DD).

  • Offer Details (Column E, Required): Provide a brief description of the coupon (e.g., "Half-price appetizer with any beverage purchase.").

  • Offer Instructions (Column F, Required): Guide users on how to redeem the coupon (e.g., "Show this screen to the staff to redeem.").

Step 3: Adding coupons to your POIs

After completing Step 2, copy the automatically generated Coupon URL from Column G.

You can add this Coupon URL to your POI in two ways:

Option 1: Embed the Coupon URL in Text

Log into the CMS, and edit the POI or tour stop where you want to add the coupon.

Document the details as you see fit, but make sure you tell the user not to press the redemption (For an example see the details noted in the image below).

Add the coupon link at the bottom by clicking on the link symbol in the Description Editing toolbar:

Or to edit an existing link, put your cursor on the link and then click the button:

Option 2: Add the Coupon URL as a Button

This requires switching to source mode within the Description box, and adding some custom HTML code:

Once in source mode, add this custom HTML code at the end of the description:

<p align="center"><a href="https://www.driftscape.com/offer-redemption?app_id=__DRIFTSCAPE_URL_PARAMETER_APP_ID__&amp;offer_id=OkanaganFoodieTours_KellyOBriens_01&amp;company=Kelly O'Brien's&amp;offer_details=Half price appetizer, with any beverage purchase. To redeem this special offer, just show this screen to the restaurant staff. Valid any time, once per patron." target="_blank"><img src="https://www.driftscape.com/redeem_button_01" /> </a></p>

Note: replace the orange highlighted part in the sample HTML code shared above with your coupon URL. Leave all other components the same.

This in effect turns the button image (“https://www.driftscape.com/redeem_button_01”) into a link to your coupon

Note: If you have more than 20 - 30 coupons that need to be added to your POIs, please contact your customer success representative for help. We may be able to speed up the process.

Step 4: Reviewing your coupon redemption details

Use this special private URL to generate a report of coupon redemptions: https://www.driftscape.com/offer-redemption-report

In the Offer ID box add your organization name as seen in column G row 2 of your coupon URL generator sheet

Then click Generate Report to view information about your redeemed coupons

Tapping the ‘Clear offer redemptions’ button will remove all redemptions for that entered offer_id. Do not use this function outside of testing!
